Arnica belongs to the thistle family. It is only used externally and is poisonous if ingested. Arnica has been used for centuries to soothe muscle aches, heal wounds, and reduce inflammation. It is a common ingredient in creams, gels, and ointments used to reduce pain, swelling, and bruising caused by injuries, sprains, and osteoarthritis. Do not use if pregnant or nursing.
